"You Either Love It or Hate It"

by

Graham Huntley

From our Chairman Steve Gardner:

Twenty clubs took part and as you probably know there are 5 rounds with each club having one image in each round.

After three rounds and at half time we were in the lead with 53 points out of a possible 60: Tim’s 'Intimate Moment' puffins scoring 17, Janice’s 'Bearded Tit' scoring 19 and George’s 'Humming Bird' scoring 17. It was a tense tea break - we barely enjoyed the biscuits I had to have to due to over-excitement!!

The second half began and judge Steve Lawrenson only gave Cathryn’s Milky Way ('ET Phone Home') 16 points! Then in the final round he returned to his senses, awarding Graham Huntley’s 'You Either Love It or Hate It' 20 points, giving us a total of 89.

Yes we won!!!!

Eastbourne and Chichester came joint second – making the victory even sweeter – they scored 87 each.

So many thanks to Tim, Janice, George, Cathryn and Graham!!

Mike Grimes

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our friend and Chairman Mike Grimes.
Mike Grimes

Mike was an original member of the Society at its inception in 1989 (membership number 45 - we are now up to 452) and was therefore a friend of 25 years to many members.

A quiet man who cared greatly for the right way of doing things - at the club and in life generally. He had a gentle sense of humour and never put people down, but he also enjoyed subtle, sharp wit, and his twinkling blue eyes will be missed by a lot of us.

Mike will be sorely missed, but remembered with great affection by many, many people.

Panel of 6
In 2011-2012, Mike won the "Coordinated Panel of Six Prints" competition.

Congratulations...

to our Treasurer Cathryn Mantovani LRPS, who has been given a "Bronze Award" in the
Epson International Photographic Pano Awards
competition held earlier this year (August 2013).

The fourth Epson International Pano Awards showcases the work of panoramic photographers worldwide and is the largest competition for panoramic photography. The judging panel included some of the world's top panoramic photographers and industry professionals.
